| Well, it looks like things are working out okay right now.
I was in too much pain to sleep last night, so this morning, one of the owners of the company took me to an urgent care place to get a prescription for painkillers. It turned out to be associated with the hospital I went to a couple days ago, which meant the guy who saw me could double-check about the x-rays and tell me for sure that I don't have any broken bones. He also re-examined me thoroughly and told me that it's not likely anything is torn because I was tucked up when I hit the rock, so the tissue got compressed, not stretched (an idea which lines up perfectly with what I felt when I hit), so it's probably just really bad internal bruising. He wrote me two prescriptions -- one for a killer anti-inflammatory drug and one for Tylenol 3 (y'know, the kind with codeine in it). I'm hurting quite a bit less now. The really great thing, though, is that the company paid for the urgent care visit and the medication, even though the incident wasn't technically an at-work injury (at least from what I know so far; it's still under debate). I'm going to be staying down here and doing hourly off-river work in the video room -- digitizing music, researching royalty-free music options, and so forth -- until I heal up enough to get back on the river. If I take it easy, it should only be a couple weeks. Labels: happy things, injury, work |
